Meet the Animals of Shimers Brook Farmstead 🐾
One of the most magical parts of visiting our farm is meeting the animals who call it home. Many have been rescued or re-homed. Each one has their own personality, quirks, and favorite treats — and we can’t wait for you to get to know them. Whether you’re here for a family outing, a photo session, or an elopement, these furry and feathered friends make your time on the farm extra special.
Marshmallow
Gentle and curious, our mini cow loves greeting visitors that give him a treat. He's our newest addition to the farm. His big, soulful eyes and slow, thoughtful movements make him the calm heart of the barnyard.

Velvet
Our mini donkey is full of personality! She loves everyone she meets and always wants to be the center of attention. Friendly and affectionate, Velvet adores being brushed and will happily become your new best friend.

Mama & Timber
These two sheep are such a joy to have on the farm! Mama came to us later in life, and her previous owner thought her days of having little ones were long gone and had no use for her. To our surprise, she proved everyone wrong and gave us a sweet little ram after a very tough pregnancy. She showed incredible strength, and now the two of them are inseparable and adored by all. They love attention, enjoy meeting new friends, and will never say no to an extra treat or two!.

The Horses
Meet the Herd: Regina, Sunny, Aspen, Myah & Leo
We’re grateful to give our horses a home where they can simply be themselves. Each one has a story to tell, and together they make up the heart of our farm.
Myah – At 28 years old, Myah is our
matriarch and wisest soul.
An Off-the-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB),
she was injured while racing and passed
through several homes before finding
her way here. Now, she enjoys a peaceful
retirement surrounded by love.
Sunny – Another OTTB, Sunny never made it to the races and was put up for adoption at just two years old. We discovered he had a debilitating spine issue, so instead of a riding career, he enjoys retirement — and even dabbles in abstract painting in the barn, showing off his creative side.
Aspen – Aspen, a Haflinger/Morgan cross,
was rescued from slaughter as a yearling.
With his gentle spirit and natural charm,
he has touched many lives, including helping
children with disabilities build confidence
in the saddle. He’s also completed
desensitization training, making him
a calm and steady companion.
Leo – Our Appaloosa gelding has seen it all, from the show circuit to lesson barns. Though mostly retired now, Leo still enjoys the occasional ride and remains a steady favorite among those who know him.
Regina – The youngest of the herd, Regina is a lively four-year-old Dutch Warmblood. She’s just beginning her career under saddle with the potential to shine as a Dressage horse. Full of personality, she keeps us laughing and inspired every day.
Together, Regina, Sunny, Aspen, Myah, and Leo make up the herd. They are a patchwork of stories—some sad, some sweet, but all ending in the same place: a home filled with love, freedom, and the simple joy of being horses.
And so, their story continues here on the farm, where every day brings new adventures, soft nickers, and the sound of hooves in the pasture.
